Once you are accepted into the Industry Placement program you will receive a Student Handbook which will provide detailed information and address other issues that may be relevant to your placement.
The first thing you should do after accepting a job offer is notify the Industry Placement Coordinator and Academic Mentor. You will also need to ensure that the following documentation has been filled out and supplied to the Industry Placement Coordinator.
- Contract: You must provide a contract on company letterhead signed by you and your employer.
- Amendment to Enrolment: It is important that this is completed to ensure that you are enrolled in the correct units for the semester. You can fill this out at the administration counter in the PA building or download the form and send it in.
- Emergency contact details: We need to receive this form prior to your placement commencing.
Attendance at University
Students are required to work four days per week at their host organisation and study at the Faculty of Design one day per week.
Progress Monitoring
Industry Placement mentors visit students and employers at the place of employment to monitor progress once every six months.
Reflective Journal
At the end of each 24 week period of your placement, you will need to sit down with you employer and produce a reflective journal. Your journal is used to document the learning development you have experienced during that period of your placement.
Assessment Banner
Each September the participating students are required to produce an exhibition banner which will be displayed in the foyer of the PA Building (Prahran Campus) and on the Industry Placement website.
Honours
The Industry Placement program is part of the Honours stream. In order to graduate, students are required to return to the Faculty of Design to complete their fourth year.
