- Industry Placement Timeline
The Industry Placement program was created to help you gain the experience you need to secure that dream job and ensure a head-start – all while you’re still at university.
One of our most popular learning methods at the Faculty of Design, Industry Placement is the perfect way to gain industry experience and earn money while you continue to receive credit towards your Honours degree!
You can choose to be placed locally, nationally or even internationally within a commercial Design or Film and Television organisation for 6 months or 1 year. You will gain unrivalled mentoring from industry professionals and hands-on experience within your field of study. Your new skills and knowledge will assist your progress through your Honours year, but more importantly, will give you the edge over your competitors when you enter the job market!
Here are some other facts about the program that you need to know:
- Industry Placement is an accredited third year subject with assessable outcomes. It is formally acknowledged by the University in academic transcripts and on graduand’s testamurs.
- Your placement can occur in local, national or international work placements.
- Employers vary from the typical small to medium studios to larger more complex organisations with global networks.
- Depending on certain employer requests and your own choices, placement can last either 24 weeks or 48 weeks.
- You will be paid at the award rate
- You will remain enrolled in the university, working 4 days per week and attending university 1 day per week.
- As it is part of the Honours Program, you must return to university for one year after the completion of your Industry Placement to complete Honours.
