Cameron Peirce Student Profile

Cameron Peirce

Bachelor of Design (Digital Media Design) (Honours)

"I wanted to go somewhere where I knew I could improve and progress. Swinburne teaches you about design processes and outcomes and challenges you with real work and deadlines.

It teaches you to present yourself and your work with professionalism and aesthetic that prepares you for work in the industry."

Salle E Male Student Profile

Salle E Male

Bachelor of Design (Digital Media Design) (Honours)

"I learned a lot through the real life industry projects that we were given in the multimedia design course. One project was to create a 3D animated TV identity for the Comedy Channel. Such projects offer great experience in working to an actual client brief, allowing you to pitch concepts and develop something that has direct industry relevance.

I also took part in a USA Design Study Tour, from San Francisco to New York City. The experience was fantastic. The industry is much larger than in Australia. The whole experience gave me the opportunity to talk to designers and animators about how they got their foot in the door, and the best way to approach studios after graduation."

Alexander Powell Student Profile

Alexander Powell

Bachelor of Design (Digital Media Design)

I completed the Advanced Diploma of Multimedia at Swinburne TAFE, allowing me to enter into the final year of the Bachelor of Design (Digital Media Design) through the TAFE Pathways program. This flexibility is very beneficial, especially for students that did not necessarily obtain a high ATAR score or prefer a hands-on style of learning. The TAFE pathways arrangement was what really sealed the deal for me.

The class that has been most beneficial for me is Interactive Design for Games and Web Applications. In this class I developed a custom content managed website that is iPhone and iPad friendly. Swinburne has excellent industry connections; all of the projects that are set, give us the option to extend ourselves and create industry quality work.

Carla Varalla Student Profile

Carla Varalla

Bachelor of Design (Digital Media Design)

For the last four years I’ve worked in graphics as an ‘on air operator’ at channel 10. I returned to study because I wanted to expand my knowledge of 2D and 3D motion graphics. The quality of work produced at Swinburne is of a very high standard, so I was determined to study there.

"If you love design, motion graphics and animation then Swinburne’s Digital Media Design course is definitely the place to be. The stuff I have learnt is incredible! Sometimes I look back at some of the modelling, texturing, lighting and animation work I have created and I cannot believe I am responsible for it. That’s what’s great about studying at Swinburne; you can achieve things you never thought you were capable of."

Elizabeth Burns Student Profile

Elizabeth Burns

Bachelor of Design (Digital Media Design)

"The Bachelor of Digital Media Design has solid practical skills with real industry projects and experience. As well as learning to use multiple design programs and animation software, things like individual and group research projects have vastly expanded my time management and leadership skills.

The campus resources are easily accessible, the students are friendly and the teaching staff are helpful and approachable. There is a real positive atmosphere that comes from everyone working to create something they love. Swinburne really is the best place for design. You learn so many useful practical skills and are exposed to so many opportunities."
