Student Experience

Bachelor of Design (Communication Design)/Bachelor of Business (Management)
"I love the possibilities available through a Double Degree, students experience a mixture of subjects from each discipline, which means you are always developing and enhancing your skills. Students who study a double degree are able to acquire two degrees with only a slightly lengthened course; this provides an enormous advantage to graduates.
Swinburne has been able to foster my natural talent and passion. We are provided with a vast range of assignments; many can be tailored by students to reflect their interests. This allows us to develop personality and individual character throughout our assignments, meaning that each graduate portfolio reflects the student themselves.
I am currently involved in a 12 month Industry Based Learning (IBL) program working within Marketing and Public Relations. I have been mentored by inspirational and visionary individuals who are focused on my experience. My skills learnt at university have been further enhanced by this unique opportunity. I am growing, and my confidence is soaring. University has enabled me to gain the knowledge to help me within my IBL position, and I look forward to seeing the skills I have learnt within industry amplify the benefits of my final year at university.
The Double Degree will enable me to follow my talents while also having my business grounding that is essential within today’s corporate environment. It will give me the scope to follow various career choices once I graduate, as my wide variety of skills have already proven to be highly sought after."

"I come from a business-oriented background and I have a passion for graphic design. When I found out that Swinburne offered design with business as a double degree, I knew that this was the course for me.
The Design/Business double degree is allowing me to explore the principles of business and apply them to the creative and practical skills of design. I believe that studying design with business will allow me to gain an industry advantage; I will graduate as a qualified designer who understands the principles of operating a business and a qualified businessperson who understands the aesthetics of design.
I chose to study at Swinburne because of their strong relationship with industry. I have been given the opportunity to enter the Industry-Based Learning (IBL) program where I am currently working full-time in marketing and communications gaining valuable experience in a real work environment and dealing with real clients.
Combining my passion for design and interests in business, together with real industry experience, all rolled into a double degree at Swinburne; I cannot think of a better deal than that."

"I chose to study at Swinburne as they offer a unique Design/Business double degree program. Swinburne allows me to study the two things I love with balance and cohesion.
I always look forward to finding out what projects we will be given, I get excited at the beginning of each unit. Every project allows me to be innovative and creative, which is what I enjoy most in my course. All of the practical classes have been very valuable, I have learnt how to use new programs, like Solidworks, 3DS Max, Adobe and CAD. The course has provided me with the skills and knowledge required to achieve my goals, but the additional push of advice and encouragement from the tutors has helped me learn so much more."
