It is important that all web projects at Swinburne adhere to W3C standards and Swinburne's web style guidelines.

W3C standards:

Swinburne has a number of students and staff with disabilities which impact upon their ability to access information via the web.
Cross Browser/Platform issues, a standard compliant code is more likely to be portable and perform as expected in multiple browsers/platforms.
Code quality and maintainability, the code produced should be written bearing in mind other developers future maintenance.
It is encouraged the validation of the html code through W3C validation services, located at: http://validator.w3.org/.
