Getting Started

This tutorial is provided to help with the initial steps in creating a website at Swinburne.

Publishers are required to use a web authoring tool (e.g. Dreamweaver) to edit the templates provided. These templates create a consistent style throughout the Swinburne website.

ITS recommends using Dreamweaver to upload files to the server. Dreamweaver has built in functionalities that allow publishers to upload files easily. Dreamweaver, can be downloaded and installed from NAL (Novell-delivered Applications). NAL can be found under Start > Programs > Network > NAL)

1. Obtaining a web publishing account

A web publishing account enables publishers to connect to the Swinburne web server.

To apply for a web publishing account, please complete the H4 - Application for Staff Web Account form from the ITS website. Once submitted, please also send an email to webmaster@swin.edu.au stating your name, your website name and the URL of your website. The web department will then set up templates for your website

2. Log into the Swinburne Web Administration Area

Web Adminsitration Login

The web administration area allows publishers to download templates and edit the navigation of their site.

Publishers can log into the web administration area using their OPAX number and SIMS password.
