AQTF - Surveys

The Learner Engagement Quality Indicator focuses on the extent to which learners are engaging in activities likely to promote high-quality skill outcomes and includes learner perceptions of the quality of their competency development and the support they receive or have received. The survey associated with this indicator is the Learner Questionnaire.

The Learner Questionnaire is designed to ideally be administered to students who are within a few weeks or sessions of completing their course. Each student should only be surved in the highest qualification that they are completing in that year. The survey can be administered as a census (all students) where a 50% response rate is required, or a sample, where a minimum of 50 responses are required in each category.

In 2009 it was decided to conduct the Learner Questionnaire with a sample of students representing each of twelve broad fields of education at Swinburne. Because this is a sample survey, we are required to collect a minimum of 50 responses in each of these fields. The sample was chosen to ensure that a broad range of course levels were sampled across all campuses. Surveys were pre-printed with relevant course information and distributed to school represenatatives who were responsible for the distribution, administration and return of the completed surveys to SPQ.

Swinburne staff can access the internal 2009 Learner Questionnaire Summary Report and the 2010 Learner Questionnaire Report from here.

Additional information is available to TAFE Schools in the G:\WrkGrp location for their School.
