Student Feedback on Subjects (SFS)
Higher Education
Below are some resources to assist faculties, convenors and academic
staff in interpreting the reports provided in relation to the Student
Feedback on Subjects Survey.
Student Feedback on Subjects form and resources to assist interpretation
of results
As part of the pilot of the Student Feedback on Subjects Survey,
we asked students and staff for feedback on the survey including
how important they considered each item and also what they understood
the item to be asking. This is useful information for interpreting
the results of the survey, particularly for items without dedicated
text boxes.

SFS Pilot Feedback on Staff and Students |
Based in feedback from students and broad analysis of student comments
from both the pilot survey and 2006 SFS survey comments, we have
developed a document which suggests some possible actions which
could be taken in response to low ratings (below 75% broad agreement)
against specific survey items. We would value additional input to
this document, including strategies, good practice and references.

Acting on SFS results |
Subjects which fall in the lowest 10% of aggregate mean by Broad
Field of Education are required to develop an improvement plan which
is noted and monitered by the Academic Programs Quality Committee.
(see minutes). Below is a template which can be used to document
improvement plans in subjects if no other process exists in the
faculty.

The survey was redeveloped and trialled in 2006 and will be delivered
online in Teaching Periods 2&3 (Semester 1), 2007 through the
student portal.
