TAFE Online Student Survey 2004
In June 2004, the TAFE Division developed an online survey instrument
to obtain feedback from our students at the whole course level.
The survey items were based on the NCVER graduate destination survey
questions in 2003 and 2004.
The survey ran for two weeks prior to the end of semester one,
2004 and for three weeks after the beginning of semester two. Paper
copies of the online survey were also supplied and data from these
were entered over a number of weeks after the close of the electronic
survey. A “pop up box” was programmed to advertise the
survey to students whenever they logged in on campus, and departments
were strongly encouraged to arrange for class groups to complete
the survey online during class time.
The responses from the survey were linked to the ASCOL database
using the student ID number, course enrolment and demographic details
were incorporated into the data set.
In total 1458 completed surveys were received from students undertaking
153 courses across 18 departments.. Each department with adequate
responses was provided with the report below recommending action
to be taken in 2005 to improve the department's performance.
