Early Exit Survey
The purpose of the Survey is to gather important information related to student attrition from Swinburne's Higher Education and TAFE programs. The information collected includes the reasons why students decided to withdraw from their program of study early, what work or educational activities they're currently engaged in, and the use of Swinburne student support services.
The Student Early Exit Survey (the Survey) was conducted for the second time in October 2010, following its inaugural implementation in October 2009. The Early Exit survey is run through Opinio as an online survey. Student data is sourced after the Semester 2 census date, and invitations sent to TAFE and Higher Education students late October.
The Survey is targeted at students who register a status of WD against one or more programs in ASCOL at any point before October of that year. This means that students who withdrew, transferred, went on leave or deferred their program were included in the sample. The various WD categories are referred to as 'cessation categories'.
