Recipient of this Award in the 'Early Career' category in relation
to Product Design Engineering and Industrial Design disciplines,
for:
- a major contribution to the implementation of industry linked
projects at Swinburne
- ensuring quality learning and teaching through curriculum development
- engaging students to foster learning
- increasing student skills for ready graduate employment
- raising Swinburne's international profile, through papers presented
at the IASDR Conference in South Korea, and attendance at the
Austrade exhibition in Korea
- sustaining innovative teaching methods and quality student outcomes
over time, thus winning major achievement awards over the past
three years

Ms Nicki Wragg, Head of Academic Group, Commmunication Design,

Recipient of this Award in the 'Individual' category in relation
to her research development practice paradigm, for:
- establishing Swinburne Honours graduates as leaders in their
field and potential design researchers
- effective teaching focussing on real-world applications and
research
- influencing, motivating and inspiring student learning
- involvement in making positive changes to the Honours program
- input in the Faculty's growth and development as a center of
excellence in learning
- promoting Communication Design externally, and gaining extensive
recognition over the past three years

Dr Carolyn Beasley, Lecturer, Writing, Faculty of Higher Education,
Lilydale
Recipient of this Award in the 'Individual' category in relation
her academic teaching at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, for:
- successfully motivating and inspiring individuals in a correctional
facility to achieve their goals - four students received a Master
of Arts in Writing and a fifth was awarded the Graduate Certitificate
in Writing; three of these students are undertaking PhDs.
- her tutelage in helping students achieve a number of significant
publications, awards and grants - conference papers presented
around the world by proxy and videolink; writing and publishing
children books; work performed at two writers festivals and a
poetry festival; winning two human rights awards and a $40,000
AIATSIS grant; and winning two short stories competitions
- gaining great respect and support from the wider community
of writers and the prison institution
- successfully replicating a graduation ceremony in high prison
security restrictions, with the help of the students, prison education
centre and Swinburne staff

Lecturer, Centre for Sustainable Infrastructure, Faculty of Engineering
and Industrial Sciences
Recipient of this Award for:
- prolific success in winning competitive and industry research
grants
- leading a number of unique, industry-funded research projects
- collaboration with various national and international researchers
in various research projects and publications
- contribution to the internationalisation of Swinburne's research
- development of a research focus in the niche area of sustainable
materials usage in geotechnical engineering applications, and
solving sustainability issues for the civil engineering industry
- renewal of the geotechnical research laboratory at Swinburne,
funded by successful competitive university equipment grants -
resulting in a state of the art geotechnical laboratory at Swinburne
for both research and teaching
- an extensive publication record, including publications in A*
and B* ranked journals, and 43 citations recorded on Scopus
- supervision of five PhD students in applied research with industry
