Dr Mark Schier, Faculty of Life and Social Sciences, in the field of ‘Biological Sciences, Health and Related Studies’, particularly in the area of neuroscience

for his robust teaching philosophy, skill at motivating and inspiring students, and active enhancement of the learning experience using new technologies.

Ms Jill Holt, Faculty of Design, in the field of ‘Humanities and the Arts'

    for a new initiative ‘Clapperboard’ designed as a communication portal and information resource for Film and Television students

Dr Graham Jenkins and Ms Julia Lamborn, Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Sciences, in the field of ‘Physical Sciences and Related Studies'

    for a Sustainable Urban Water Management Project with Yarra Valley Water which enabled students to investigate complex ‘real world’ design strategies within a supportive collegial environment, and aiming at improving Yarra Valley Water's skills and knowledge-base in sustainable water management practice.

Dr Simon Knowles, Faculty of Life and Social Sciences, in the category of ‘Early Career’

    for his outstanding teaching performance, organisational abilities and personal warmth in carrying out his academic role.

The Multimedia Design Team (Mr James Marshall, Mr Bill Trikojus, Ms Nicole Wragg, Mr Steven Murdoch, Mr Shaun Britton, Ms Maree Woolley), Faculty of Design, in the category of ‘Work Integrated Learning’

    for the design, development and use of“Mission h2o”, a web-based game that promotes the sustainable use of water in Australia

The Information Technology, Systems and Multimedia Academic Staff (Dr Bruce Calway, Ms Catherine Moore, Ms Daniela Signor, Ms Luisa Signor, Mr Nelson Vargas, Mr Ian Wallace), Faculty of Higher Education, Lilydale, in the field of ‘Law, Economics, Business and Related Studies’

    for outstanding leadership in flexible delivery and online education within the Information Technology Systems and Multimedia (ITSM) discipline

 

Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Award (TAFE)

Ms Lois Gijsbers, Access Department, School of Social Sciences

    for success in attracting significant government funding to enhance the ESL student learning experience at Swinburne.

In the absence of Lois Gijsbers, Merrilyn Beaumont, Manager of Access Department, was presented with the Award.

    for her high level of professionalism and commitment to achieving excellent outcomes in transnational education.

Supported Learning Network Team (Ms Dianne Hall, Ms Sue Williams, Ms Jan Hanos, Ms Ann Hurley, Mr Harold Wood, Ms Jenny Ross, Ms Kim Oakes, Ms Marita Ballon, Ms Amanda Ryan, Ms Alana Lucas, Ms Soula Kokoras, Ms Tulen Young, Ms Jenny Chalmers, Ms Janice Gaulke, Ms Rhondda Hunt, Ms Lynne Cullen, Ms Debbie Barry), School of Social Sciences

    for exemplary cross-campus teamwork to ensure that young people with a disability can participate very successfully in adult non-segregated settings

VCAL Wesburn Project Team (Mr Anthony Gartner, Mr Clive Linley, Mr Darren Snijders, Ms Tara Jarvis, Ms Julie Hanman, Ms Debbie McLaughlin, Ms Louise Schilling, Mr John Middleton, Mr Joe Molnar)

    for a project with Wesburn Primary School which has enhanced Swinburne’s reputation as a leader in developing and managing youth programs and, in the process, provided quality education and leadership to a community in a low socioeconomic area.

    for creating an engaging program in printing and graphic arts for students previously disengaged from schooling

Parks Victoria Project Team (Ms Jeannette Swain, Mr Damian Howard, Ms Linda Bester, Mr John Flanders, Mr Gabe Markovics, Ms Linda Norman), Department Horticulture and Environment, School of Arts, Hospitality and Sciences and the National Centre for Sustainability

    for developing and implementing an innovative workplace assessment program which is meeting the needs of both Parks Victoria and its employees.

 

Vice-Chancellor's Research Award

Dr Alister McKenzie Graham, Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing, Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies

    in acknowledgement of his global reputation for research excellence, success in collaborative research endeavour, development of new curricula on space telescopes, and authorship of Swinburne-badged publications characterised by high production values.

Professor Jun Han, Centre for Information Technology Research, Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies

    for his significant contribution to research and research planning and development, substantially contributing to Swinburne's national and international reputation in research excellence

Associate Professor Chengfei Liu, Centre for Information Technology Research, Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies

    for his significant contribution to Swinburne's reputation for research excellence through outstanding achievement in internationally recognised research and community contribution.

 

Vice-Chancellor's Research Award (Early Career)

Dr Atputharajah Arulrajah, Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Sciences

    for developing highly effective research collaborations with industry, and for associated success in winning research grants and in publication.

Dr Andrew Pipingas, Brain Sciences Institute, Faculty of Life and Social Sciences

    for research on aspects of ageing and healthy ageing, and for consequential grant success and contribution to building the University's research strength in this area.


Vice-Chancellor's Industry Engagement Award

The Aviation Discipline Group (Mr Stephen Fankhauser, Mr Ken Barnes, Mr John Bibo, Mr Peter Bruce, Mr Darryl Gerlach), Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Sciences

    for making Swinburne a recognised leader in aviation education and training through highly successful and ongoing engagement with the aviation sector.


Vice-Chancellor's Community Engagement Award

Ms Lisa Gye, Faculty of Life and Social Sciences

    for her work in the formation of 'The Sports Without Borders Foundation', a joint not-for-profit venture between Swinburne, the Hellenic Sports Association and the Victorian Multicultural Commission, dedicated to providing support for young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds who are involved in sport.


Vice-Chancellor's Intersectoral Collaboration Award

Ms Anne Paul, School of Social Sciences and Mr Dylan Davis, Faculty of Design

    for their collaborative 'Digital Stories' project developed for the Centre of Excellence in Child and Family Welfare

 

Vice-Chancellor's Entrepreneurship Award

The Swinburne College Team (Ms Chris Wallis) and the Swinburne International Team (Mr Jeffrey Smart)

    for outstanding achievement in international student recruitment and for the highly successful establishment and operation of Swinburne College.

 

Vice-Chancellor's Internationalisation Award

The Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies and Careers and Employment Unit Team (Mr Sebastian Ng, Mr Malcolm Ward, Ms Judi Green)

    for the development of an 'ICT Professional Employment Program' which has contributed to extremely positive changes in student outlook and greatly improved employment outcomes.

for the success in planning and implementing a suite of "Green Office Program" initiatives aligned to the University's Sustainability Covenant with EPA Victoria
