Why do I need an ID card?

Your ID card will identify you as a Swinburne student when you are accessing services and facilities on Swinburne campuses.

It is also your library card.

You have to bring your Swinburne ID card with you to your exams. Without it, your exam time may be delayed.

You may get a student concession at certain premises such as the cinemas, restaurant and eateries (particularly around Swinburne campuses).

Note: A valid Student ID Card does not allow concession on public transport.

A travel concession card must be obtained.

Lost or Stolen ID Cards

For lost ID cards - You should notify the Library as soon as the loss is detected. Cardholders are, under library rules, responsible for any transaction made on their card up to the time of notification of the loss.

To have your lost ID card reissued, a replacement fee ($20) will apply and you can pay for this on campus at any SIC. Once this has been paid you will be issued with a new student ID card on the spot.

For Stolen ID cards – You will be issued with a replacement card at no cost upon presentation of a police report.

Updating your Student ID card

For re-enrolling students in the same course
Your student D card is renewed annually with a renewal sticker that you will receive in the mail together with your confirmation of re-enrolment pack. When you receive the renewal sticker, peel it off and put it on the front of your card, covering the previous year, to validate your ID for the new year.

If you have not received a sticker or you have lost it, a new sticker will be available from the SIC.

For existing students in a new course (new Faculty/ School)
A new student ID card will be issued with the new / current name of your Faculty/ School at no cost.
