End of year shutdown arrangements

End of Year Shut Down Period 2011/2012

The end of year shutdown period for 2011/2012 will commence from close of business Friday 23 December 2011, re-opening on Tuesday 3 January 2012.

General, Professional or TAFE Teaching Staff

General/Professional Staff and TAFE Teaching staff are required to take three days of approved annual leave for 28, 29 and 30 December. This can be time off in lieu (General/Professional staff only) or leave without pay. This leave will be automatically booked into the HR system as annual leave on 18 November 2011.

Academic Staff

In accordance with clause 42.4 of the Academic & General Staff Enterprise Agreement 2009, Academic staff who worked on Labour Day in 2011 are only required to book one day of annual leave or leave without pay. The University grants two non-cumulative University holidays to Academic staff who attend the workplace as a normal work day on Labour Day. These two days will be granted on 28 and 29 December 2011. You are required to take 30 December as a leave or leave without pay day. This leave will be automatically booked into the HR system as annual leave on 18 November 2011 and will take into account the "in lieu of Labour Day" leave provisions for Academic staff.

If any staff work during the shutdown period, this will need to be reversed online (Swinburne People Online) after 18 November 2011 and submitted for manager approval in line with the usual process.

36.5.3 An employee whose employment commenced after 1 December in any year and / or terminated before 30 November will be paid the annual leave loading calculated for each completed month of continuous service.
