Classification Review

The Classification Review Panel meets at regular intervals, to classify positions where:

• a revised organisation structure has been proposed which requires a review of all positions and their classifications; or
• the duties and responsibilties of an existing position have changed substantially, and these changes are expected to be ongoing
• the general staff member in the position applies for a review of their reclassification of their position, and the applicant has not requested a review in the last 12 months.

Position Classification Standards

REVIEW PANEL MEMBERSHIP

The Review panel shall comprise of:

1 person nominated by the university

1 person nominated by the general staff representative of the SCC

Each nominated person may seek assistance from an additional general staff member.

REQUESTS

Managers are to lodge requests for classification of position descriptions by the time-lines indicated below.

Please e-mail the following information to your HR Consultant prior to the date shown below

1. Revised position description
2. Organisation chart of the area
3. A Completed Classification form (A4 form) outlining key changes to the position requirements. Please indicate the existing classification of the position on this documentation.
4. The effective date of a classification/reclassification will be the date of lodgement of the application with Human Resources.
   
   
   Failure to provide all documentation may result in a delay in the position being reviewed

Existing positions must have sign-off by the position occupant and the Head of Management Unit.
