OH&S – Health and Safety Representative Call for Nominations 2007

In accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2004, nominations were taken from members of the Designated Workgroups for Health and Safety Representatives (HSR) and Deputy Health and Safety Representatives (DHSR).

In the event of the number of nomination received are in excess of the positions required, an election will be held in accordance with the University's Election Statutes and Regulations Individuals nominated must consent to holding the position by signing the form.

Health and Safety Representatives are elected by the membership of a Designated Work Group (DWG) to monitor the workplace to ensure that occupational health and safety processes and procedures are maintained. HSR's and DHSR's are not expected to be the person responsible for health and safety in the Workplace. Nor are they expected to be an expert on occupational health and safety (OHS) issues. HSR's have broad powers under the legislation to promote the health and safety at work of employees in the Designated Work Group (DWG).

Under the OHS Act, 2004 HSR and the DHSR are elected for a term of 3 years.

The successful nominee is required to attend the WorkCover Approved 5-day Health and Safety Representatives Training course.
