Conditions of Employment
Generally, wages and conditions of employment are legally set down by awards and certified agreements. The lowest rate of pay that can be paid to an adult is referred to as the minimum wage. Junior wages (for 15 to 21 year old workers) are a percentage of the adult wage. The wages and terms of employment are specified in an enterprise agreement, a federal award or a state industry sector order. Industry sectors can include accommodation, cafes and restaurants, communication services and retail trade to name a few.
