Services at Hawthorn

  • Career counselling

    The Centre for Career Development offers career counselling to help you build life long capacity for career research and decision making. Depending on your individual needs we can work with you to plan your future career, help you clarify your ideas, provide support with decision making and offer different perspectives.

    Preparation:
    Prior to booking a career counselling session we encourage you to do some initial career research to clarify in your own mind what it is you want from the session.

    The Centre for Career Development provides a service to help you submit the highest possible quality job applications.

    Documents:
    • Cover letters
    • LinkedIn Profiles
    • Resumes
    Preparation:
    To get the most out of this service we suggest you use our online resources to develop your documents as much as possible before submitting them.
    Email feedback:
    Send your document(s) to CCD@swin.edu.au for feedback and expect a response within two working days.
  • Interview practice

    The Centre for Career Development offer mock interviews where one of our career development consultants will put you through an interview and provide you with feedback.

    Preparation:
    To get the most from these sessions it is important that you prepare as you would for any job interview and take advantage of our online interview resources.

    • Careers conferences related to your discipline

  • Employment vacancy service

    The Centre for Career Development runs the SwinEmploy job board which lists casual, part-time and full-time vacancies to help you find employment either while you are studying or after you graduate. Before you can access the site you will need to register for SwinEmploy if you have not done so before.

    Students/Graduates:

    Register for SwinEmploy (if you have not previously registered).

    Access:

    Access SwinEmploy (if you are a registered user).

  • Resume Builder

    The Centre for Career Development offers an online Resume Builder to help you construct a professional quality resume. Once built online, your resume can be edited as required for other positions you might apply for. To access the Resume Builder you will need to be registered on SwinEmploy.

    Students/Graduates:

    Register on SwinEmploy (if you have not previously registered).

    Access:

    Access Resume Builder on SwinEmploy (if you are a registered user).

  • Business insight program

    The business insight program provides small groups of students the opportunity to visit selected workplaces and learn first-hand about professional roles and workplace culture.
