Foundation Studies

Overview

Foundation Studies is a pre-university program designed for international students. It can help you prepare – and meet the entry requirements – for a UniLink diploma or direct entry to first-year of a bachelor degree.

You will enjoy smaller classes, focused learning and one-on-one time with your teachers, giving you every opportunity to succeed in your studies.

Best of all, Foundation Studies only takes eight months to complete. This cost-effective option means you can start your degree sooner rather than later.

Swinburne Foundation Studies courses meet the requirements for Foundation programs which have been registered on CRICOS for delivery in Australia to overseas students, providing an academic preparation for seeking entry to first year undergraduate study or its equivalent.

Swinburne Foundation Studies courses are standard programs of eight months duration. Each program is taught over two 14-week teaching periods and has a total of 720 scheduled contact hours.

The scheduled contact hours in Swinburne Foundation Studies programs are made up of the classes students are required to attend and their examinations. Classes can include laboratories, design studio work and excursions, depending on which Foundation Studies program students undertake.

Pathways

Once you have successfully finished Foundation Studies, you can progress directly to a UniLink diploma. You’ll continue to get all the benefits of studying at Swinburne College as you prepare for entry into second year university.

Alternatively, you can pathway directly to the first year of a bachelor degree if you achieve an average of 70 per cent or above in Academic and Communication Skills A and B and a credit average (65 or above) in all remaining units.
