Group Programs and Short Courses
Swinburne College group programs and short courses are a great introduction to life and study in Australia.
You will be able to improve your English, discover Melbourne and find out what Swinburne has to offer.
Programs
We provide a range of customised programs for students, teachers, educational institutes and government groups. These include:
English Plus
Students can join our regular English classes and develop their language skills with students from all over the world. Programs can run for 5, 15 or 30 weeks. Optional extras include a buddy program, volunteer placements and UniLink diploma subjects.
A Taste of UniLink
This program allows participants to experience university-level study in Australia. Participants will be able to choose from a range of subjects in our higher education UniLink diplomas. These are based on subjects in the first year of a bachelor degree and participants can gain credit from their home institution (by prior agreement).
English Plus + A Taste of UniLink
Participants can undertake 15 weeks of English language tuition, followed by one semester of a UniLink diploma (14 weeks). They will be able to choose from a range of subjects from our higher education UniLink diplomas and gain credit from their home institution (by prior agreement).Teacher training
These programs aim to develop participants’ English language skills and introduce them to the latest teaching methodologies in Australia. The program includes English language enrichment, classroom observation, teaching methodologies and teaching practicums. We can customise each program to the needs and objectives of each group, whether it’s for primary, secondary or university teachers.
Accommodation
Participants generally stay with a family or resident in the local area as part of a homestay arrangement. This is organised by the Australian Homestay Network, Swinburne’s official homestay provider. Prices begin at A$270 per week and there is a placement fee of $230.*
Alternatively, we can arrange individual or shared accommodation on-campus (subject to availability) or there are a range of options in the Melbourne city centre.

- Airport transfers from Melbourne Airport to your accommodation (additional fee applies)
- Ongoing support throughout the duration of the program
- Access to Swinburne's services and facilities, including the library, Independent Learning Centre, internet and wireless computer access and the on-campus medical centre.
