Aviation Seminar Series
The fifteenth annual Aviation Industry Seminar series is under way, offering participants knowledge of the aviation industry and the ability to expand networks. Seminars involve presentations on a variety of topics essential to gaining an understanding of the ever-changing aviation industry.
Throughout the event, participants will be given the opportunity to interact with expert presenters from the industry and Swinburne aviation staff.
There will also be a demonstration of Swinburne’s new fixed wing and helicopter simulators.

Where: Advanced Technologies Centre, Hawthorn Campus
Documentary on early wireless entrepreneur
Professor Jock Given from the Faculty of Life and Social Sciences has written and produced a documentary that will air this Sunday 12 February on ABC Radio’s National Hindsight program.
Empire State: Ernest Fisk and the World Wide Wireless tells the story of early wireless entrepreneur Ernest Fisk, the man who led Australian company AWA in the 1930s and 40s, when wireless was what television, the internet and the iPhone, all rolled into one, are today.
The broadcast will be repeated on Thursday 16 February 2012 and will be available to pod cast.
European Consortium of Innovative Universities seminar
As an associate partner of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), Swinburne will host the first of the three-part leadership development program next week.
Academic staff with leadership and management responsibilities and senior professional staff in areas such as policy and planning, finance and human resources from across ECIU member institutes will take part.
The program is structured around strategic projects defined by a member of the executive team of each of the three host institutions. Further seminars will take place in Sweden and Poland in April and May respectively.

When: 15 to 17 February 2012
New business lecture series
Staff are invited to attend the Faculty of Business and Enterprise’s (FBE) new Professorial Lecture Series.
This series provides a forum for FBE staff to share their knowledge with a broad audience.
The inaugural lecture will be presented by Professor Eddie Blass
By challenging the assumed measures and standards by which professionalism and ethics are 'accepted' within society, this lecture argues that leadership in the future will not be about 'you' but about what you do.
It demonstrates how leadership is about both what you are leading and how you conduct yourself - arguing that one without the other is deficient.

When: 21 February 6.00pm for 6.30pm start
