UAE Ambassador visits Swinburne

Swinburne today hosted a visit from the UAE Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Ali Nasser Ali Al Nuaimias as part of the university’s commitment to developing international partnerships.
The Ambassador met with Swinburne senior management for preliminary discussions on research and teaching opportunities between Swinburne and the UAE. Under discussion were possibilities for dual qualifications, student and staff exchange opportunities and developing joint research collaborations.
A number of Swinburne staff were in attendance including Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Andrew Flitman, Associate Dean International, Faculty of Communications and Information Technologies Associate Professor Sebastian Ng, and Director Swinburne International Melissa Banks.
The Ambassador was given a tour of the Hawthorn campus and met with UAE students studying at Swinburne on scholarships.
Swinburne also hosted a visit from the Ministry of Manpower, Oman. The delegation discussed possible collaborations around upgrading student and staff skills through Masters and PhD programs.
