Students Create Comedy Channel Idents

Third year Digital Media Design students recently completed a practical industry liaison project in which they produced a collection of short ident animations to feature on pay TV’s The Comedy Channel.

Lauchlan Pevi, one half of the creative team behind 'Poker Machine' commented on the experience, "Interacting with industry professionals provided me with incredibly useful feedback and tools. I learned many new 3D modelling, animating and lighting techniques, as well as tips of how to save time down the track.  Now I have a very high standard piece of work that I can add to my show reel and which will also play on national television."

In working closely with The Comedy Channel’s Creative Services team students were able to pitch and refine their concepts with the expertise and standards befitting industry productions.

Each group worked from the client brief to create their own stylised ident which best conveyed The Comedy Channel's personality and brand to TV viewers.  The winning projects were developed with optimal use of style, branding and creativity and produced a diverse range of idents that incorporated varied themes such as ‘Retro’ and ‘Clockwork City’.

"Swinburne Design did a fantastic job with this project, displaying a high level of creativity and technical proficiency which made our decision on selecting the best four very difficult.  The chosen four best represent the core values of The Comedy Channel and we look forward to airing them in the near future." - Anthony Warrington, Creative Services Manager, The Comedy Channel
