John Pidgeon is Director, International Accreditation in the Faculty of Business and Enterprise at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.

John started his career in 1965 as a Secondary Teacher before joining Swinburne in 1975 as a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Applied Science. In 1998 he joined the former School of Business as a Principal Lecturer and then Deputy Head in 1999.

As a Lecturer, John has taught a variety of subjects including International Business, Marketing, Business Demography, Data Analysis and Marketing Research & Methodologies to students in the Bachelor of Business programs, as well as postgraduate Master programs in Housing Management & Policy, Social Statistics, Urban Research & Policy and Market Modelling. John has also taught in Swinburne's offshore business programs and has conducted short courses and presentations to government and industry organisations.

John is a specialist in Statistical Analysis and Market Research and has conducted a number government and private sector research and consultancy projects on behalf of the Swinburne Centre for Urban & Social Research, where he held the position of Chairman for 8 years as well as being a member for 29 years. He was also the Founding Manager of the Swinburne Department of Mathematics, Operations Research and Statistics Unit.

Alongside his 36 years of teaching, research and academic administration, John has over 15 years of industry experience with the Tertiary Credit Union where he held a variety of executive roles including, Director and Chairman, and managed assets over $19m.

John's contribution to the development of international education was recently honoured with the award of Member of the Order of Australia in the 2006 Queen's Birthday Honours roll. This award was in recognition of "Service to education through Swinburne University of Technology, to the development of curriculum and qualification transfer agreements for international students, and as an academic administrator and teacher."
