Associate Professor Irene Tempone has a strong interest in student learning, as evidenced by her PhD topic, Variation in Student Learning in Accounting. Irene teaches into Auditing and Assurance and Current Issues in Accounting (Accounting Theory) at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the Faculty. Her research publications have been in the area of student learning, group work, academics’ responses to changing demands, auditing and corporate governance. As the Educational Development Coordinator for the Faculty Irene has led many projects to improve student learning outcomes.

Irene has supervised postgraduate students in areas of supply chain management, global corporate governance models, Australian Taxation Office communications and perceptions of superannuation in Australia. She acts as reviewer for several international journals and conferences, is Accounting Auditing and Taxation Track Chair for an international conference, and has examined doctoral theses in a range of topics related to her expertise. She has been invited to present her research findings to university seminar series across Australia. She is invited to sit on Course Advisory Panels for other universities.

Irene is Chair of the Teaching Learning and Curriculum Committee for the Faculty, is a member of the Faculty Academic Committee and the Academic Board of the Swinburne University of Technology.
