Associate Professor Irene Tempone heads the Accounting, Economics, Finance and Law (AEFL) academic group in the faculty. She is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a member of the Faculty Executive Committee.

Irene’s research interests are in student learning in accounting as evidenced by her PhD topic, "Variation in student learning in accounting", as well as further research publications as listed below. Her most recent project has been as a member of an Australia-wide team of researchers investigating the non-technical skills required of accounting graduates into the future. This was an ALTC funded project involving a team from five universities across five states in Australia.

Irene is currently supervising PhD candidates in a diverse range of areas in accounting, finance, law as well as student and other stakeholder engagement in the field of Work Integrated Learning.
