What does the centre do?
The Asia Pacific Centre for Social Investment & Philanthropy (APCSIP) is committed to advancing the understanding and practice of social investment throughout the Asia Pacific through the delivery of ethical, innovative and vibrant graduate and executive educational programs, and world-class research in social investment and philanthropy.
Message from the Director
APCSIP was established almost ten years ago to offer graduate education in grantmaking, philanthropy and social investment. From that pioneering initiative, APCSIP has developed a research program in its core strengths of social investment and philanthropy.
This focus on research facilitates a complementary relationship between the teaching and knowledge generation programs of the Centre. It also ensures that the contributions we make in our core research specialities are of value to our partners in the Centre for Social Impact.
Research
APCSIP is presently addressing two principal research themes:
1. High Net Worth Philanthropy and Social Investment Current and completed projects include:
- Study of High Net Worth Philanthropy in Australia
- Entrepreneurialism and Philanthropy
- China's Emerging Philanthropic Environment
- Geographies of High Net Worth Philanthropy in the Asia-Pacific
2. Giving behaviours and strategies of individuals, trusts and foundations
Current and completed projects include:
- Inheritance and Charitable Giving in Australia
- US Foundations and Public-Private Partnerships in Health and Agriculture
- Diaspora Philanthropy
- Access to Capital among Non-profits and Social Enterprises
- A Case Study of Social Innovation in LotteryWest
- Philanthropic Grants to Environmental Non-Governmental Organisations
APCSIP undertakes program and foundation-wide evaluations on behalf of private and family trusts; corporate foundations; non-profits and social enterprises, and public sector agencies.
APCSIP also provides executive training, technical assistance and capacity building to public and private sector organisations.
