Master of Business (Philanthropy & Social Investment)

Course Overview

Our pioneering graduate program is now a Master of Business (Philanthropy and Social Investment). It is a three year, part-time course of study, with students progressing through Certificate and Diploma stages.

The main aims are to:

  • Introduce students to a range of social financing perspectives.
  • Assist in a critical analysis of the social enterprises.
  • Challenge the ethical and political contexts within which social enterprises operate.
  • Investigate fundraising and social entrepreneurship.
  • Provide a complimentary choice of units in accordance with student interests and career path.

The Master of Business (Philanthropy and Social Investment) is for:

  • Personal givers, and those interested in starting philanthropic programs.
  • Advisors to grant makers: Trustees, financial advisers, lawyers, solicitors, estate planners and others providing advice to high-net-worth families.
  • Corporate personnel whose responsibilities include Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, corporate/community partnerships, charitable giving, sponsorship and cause-related marketing activities.
  • Fundraisers responsible for the generation of revenue for non-profit enterprises.
  • Personnel in community agencies, 'for-purpose' organisations, social enterprises, and businesses whose work includes a significant social dimension.
  • Public managers, political advisors, administrators and 'philanthocrats' having management and policy development roles in the government and philanthropic sectors.
