Program Information - Stage 3
Stage 3: Master of International Accounting
The Master of International Accounting is available to participants who have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma of International Accounting and allows them to further develop their academic skills, by introducing them to issues involved with corporations law, international taxation, capital markets and contemporary issues in accounting. On successful completion of this course, participants will be admitted as an associate member (ASA) of CPA Australia.
Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of Stages One and Two.
Subject Description
HBC0608: International Auditing
Familiarises participants with the underlying concepts, objectives and reporting function of the auditor. The subject deals with both theoretical and practical aspects of auditing to integrate the concepts of auditing with practical approaches taken by the auditor to ensure participants gain a complete picture of the audit process.
HBC0604: Contemporary Issues in Accounting
Examines the develoment of the theory of accounting and the methodology used by accounting theorists; describes and critically analyses a framework of accounting concepts including assets, liabilities and income; and uses the methodology and the framework developed to study specific issues in financial accounting. Where applicable emphasis will be placed on international accounting standards. NOTE: Students will have the option to complete this capstone subject in Vietnam, or at SUT in Melbourne.
HBC0606: Strategic Financial Management
Develops in participants an ability to exercise judgement and technique to make commercial value added decisions in strategic financial management and be able to adapt to factors affecting those decisions. Emphasis placed on risk analysis, investment decision making, treasury management and forecasting and global financial management. Also develops an ability to identify and evaluate appropriate sources of finance, their risks and costs; and to prepare reports for management explaining and evaluating the financial consequences of strategic decisions.
HBC0607: Strategic Business Planning
Develops in participants an ability to exercise sound judgment and technique in strategic business management to enable them to contribute to the formulation of business strategy, the development of products and services and the maintenance of quality throughout the organisation. Emphasis placed on models of strategic management and the nature of strategy analysis, choice and implementation; the development of global business strategies and the importance of ethical considerations. Also develops an ability to identify the appropriate methods of implementing chosen strategies and evaluate their impact on organisational structures and operations.
