Student on the Treviso ProgramStudy in Treviso

Treviso, a delightful little city in the Veneto region (north-east of Italy ), can certainly be considered a cradle of the Italian culture. Treviso is a a short distance north of Venice (approx. 30 minutes by train), and an hour's drive from Verona, Padova and Vicenza. It was a Roman town that reached its cultural peak in the Middle Ages.

Rich in history and culture, it is a pretty town, its cobblestone streets filled with bicycles, motorbikes and cars. The historic centre of Treviso is bounded by the original city wall, with the new parts of the city encircling the outside perimeter.

The area surrounding Treviso, called Marca Trevigiana, was the birthplace of famous artists like Giorgione, Antonio Canova and the well known architect Palladio who designed most of the beautiful villas around Treviso .

Over the last twenty years many small firms have been established in Veneto and these, together with some of the larger firms, such as Benetton, have made this region one of the wealthiest and most economically developed in Italy.
