Study in Italy - Conegliano
Conegliano is a delightful small city located in the Prosecco Vally, about 30 kms north of Treviso in the Veneto region (north-east of Italy). It is renowned worldwide for its dry, white sparkling wine 'Prosecco'. The Prosecco Valley is a major wine-producing area and touring destination of Northern Italy.

Ex Convento San Francesco
The Program is run in the former monastery of San Francesco. It was founded around 1200 in the outskirts of the walled town of Conegliano. The building of today's complex started at the end of the 14th century following Pope Gregory XI's authorisation towards the friars to move in a new monastery within the walls of the city. The Venetian Republic demolished the old monastery in 1407 as retaliation for not serving as a shelter to the Hungarian invaders.
In the first half of the 17th century the monastery complex was expanded until the Napoleonic era. The friars were transferred to Padua and the main church of the monastery was used for as a hospital facility, before being demolished in 1812. The remaining buildings were transformed in to military and civil facilities becoming one of the most representative landmarks of the city. After being renovated the complex has been re-opened in October 2002 by the Cassamarca Foundation (text adapted from www.masterbe.com)

Treviso and surrounding areas
The area surrounding Conegliano and Treviso, called Marca Trevigiana, was the birthplace of famous artists like Giorgione, Antonio Canova and the well known architect Palladio who designed most of the beautiful villas around Treviso.
Over the last twenty years many small firms have been established in Veneto and these, together with some of the larger firms, such as Benetton, have made this region one of the wealthiest and most economically developed in Italy.
