Overview:
Dr Cutler will discuss the meaning of innovation for Australia in an international marketplace. He will review the national innovation system, innovation in business, technology and innovation, excellence in research and innovation in academe, innovation in government, national priorities and governance of the innovation system. Following the lecture there will be a panel response by business and Faculty academic staff and the opportunity for questions.
The evening will begin with the opportunity to network over light refreshments and drinks prior to the public address.
Biography:
Dr Terry Cutler is Principal of Cutler Co Pty Ltd and with wide experience in innovation policy and practice. He is currently Chairman of the Review of the National Innovation System, Australian Government, and Director of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
Dr Cutler has held numerous important advisory and decision-making positions with Australian government agencies and advisory bodies, including:
- Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation
- Innovation Economy Advisory Board, Victoria
- The Industry Research and Development Board
- The Australasian Centre for Interaction Design
- Australian Centre for the Moving Image
- The Australia Council
