Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements

At the AGSE we will assess your application on three requirements: Academic Results, Work Experience and English Proficiency. In some cases to make an assessment of entry we may require students to sit a GMAT test or undertake an interview. Continuation in the program is determined by academic results.

Academic Requirements

We require an approved undergraduate degree at a credit level, from a recognised tertiary institution, equivalent to a three year Australian bachelor degree. Work Experience

So you can fully gain the benefits of your learning experience and are able to have input into class activities and relate information back to the real-world, some of our programs (in particular MBA and MEI) will require you to have a minimum amount of post-university work experience in a relevant field. English Language

As our programs are taught in English, if your first language is not English you must produce evidence of an advanced level of proficiency in written and spoken English. This can be shown through one of the following:

  • IELTS Results - 6.5 with no single band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL Results - 580 with TWE score not less than 4.5.
  • Proof of previous recognised studies (e.g. bachelor degree etc) taught in English

Graduate Management Admission Test

Applicants are encouraged to undertake the GMAT test (preferred but not mandatory). A result of 550+ is favourably considered.

Entry / Intake Dates

Our graduate programs generally have two intakes per year, February and August; except for our MBA program which has intakes in February and September. Students can submit an application at any time. Research students can start anytime during the year and can apply anytime.

Fees

AGSE postgraduate programs are all full-fee paying, with each semester's fees payable prior to the commencement of the semester. Tuition fees are based on a fee per 12.5 credit point unit of study. In the event that a unit of study is derived from another program, the applicable fee will be that of the other program. Fees are reviewed in June each year and may increase. The tuition fee does not include costs associated with travel, accommodation, daily living expenses, books and materials.

Financing Your Study with FEE-HELP

The Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) is a suite of income contingent loans that help eligible fee paying postgraduate students pay their tuition fees. Australian citizens and holders of an Australian Permanent Humanitarian visa are eligible to apply for loans to cover up to the full amount of their tuition fees (lifetime maximum $80,000 indexed annually). FEE-HELP forms and booklets are available from the AGSE.

Note: New Zealand citizens and holders of other Australian permanent resident visas do not have access to HELP loans. These students must pay their tuition fees up front.

Exemptions / Recognition of Prior Learning

AGSE is committed to the principles of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). We recognise that learning takes place through a variety of means including formal studies at universities, other accredited institutions and private providers, employer-based training and development and relevant experience gained within the workforce. Undergraduate units are ineligible as a basis for subject exemptions, however if you have studied a major sequence of study in a relevant discipline you may have the option of completing an additional elective as a substitution (MBA, MEI and DBA programs only).

We will make an assessment of your RPL in conjunction with your enrolment application so all supporting documentation needs to be supplied at the time of application. Where applicable, you will be required to submit certified (English language copies) of documentation, such as unit outlines and/or position descriptions, supporting any claim for RPL. Please note: units completed more than 10 years prior to enrolment at the AGSE are not admissable for RPL purposes.
