Hannah Jonkers from Bakers Delight explains how Swinburne's placement program distinguishes itself from others by benefiting the students and the organisations that host them.
"It's incredibly rewarding as a mentor and manager to watch our students develop and grow during their placement with us."
Hannah Jonkers, Senior Campaign Communications Specialist, Bakers Delight
For the past 15 years Bakers Delight has given Swinburne students unique opportunities for personal growth and career development by participating in our professional placements program (previously known as Industry-Based Learning).
As Bakers Delight’s Senior Campaign Communications Specialist, Hannah Jonkers, explains, skills learnt during a work placement lay a solid foundation for students’ future careers, which for them is an important element of participating in the program.
"It’s incredibly rewarding as a mentor and manager to watch our students develop and grow during their placement with us.
They learn a huge amount in 12 months which goes beyond honing their skills within our marketing team.
They’re also exposed to working in a corporate environment which is a terrific experience for a university student to have.
When our students finish our program their skill set is well rounded, preparing them for life beyond university and their future career."
