Before starting a research partnership, Swinburne and your organisation will agree on a research contract which covers the scope of work, methodology and fully-costed budget of the research activity.
We will decide whether to use Swinburne’s standard research agreement or a contract prepared by your organisation. Our standard agreement aims to streamline the formalisation of contract terms and contains many important standard terms.
Our legal team will review any changes you require to our standard research contract or review the terms and conditions of a contract prepared by your organisation. We will negotiate the ownership of intellectual property (IP) on a case-by-case basis. We aim to establish workable agreements which are fair to all parties.
Swinburne’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) will sign the contract once it has been finalised.
Please contact us if you require further information about research contracts.
