Web conferencing

What is it?

Web conferencing, a service which ADS provides to the Swinburne community, allows users at different locations to meet via the internet. The meeting can be supported by video and audio communication over the web. Web conferencing has the ability to share documents, computer-displayed information, and whiteboards and, now often also includes audio and video..

Why use it?

Web conferencing services are useful to facilitate meetings and classes across distances. Web conferencing would be chosen over video conferencing if it is important that participants are able to see the content under discussion, or if there are lots of participants in various locations..

Examples could include discussion of graphic design layout, spreadsheets, photographs and software applications. This technology can be very useful to support the flexible delivery of classes for users in many locations.
