Blackboard content management and version control

What is it?

Content Management refers to the organization, categorization, and structuring of online information resources such as text, images, documents so that they can be stored, published, and edited with ease and flexibility. Content management is available at Swinburne via the Blackboard learning management system. It allows individual learning items stored in Blackboard to be tagged and selectively retrieved at a later date to suit new circumstances, such as the next semester's iteration of a subject. It can provide for online publication of various versions of a subject.

Why use it?

The Blackboard Content Management System enables staff to take advantage of version control and posting material once but drawing upon the resources multiple times. Resources freed from subject boundaries are therefore able to be accessed (rather than copied) by staff and students based on "rules/permissions" that academic staff control.
