MS Office native and .rtf files, and text files
MS Office files, as well as existing in their native format (.doc, .xls, .mdb, .ppt), can take advantage of some cross-platform compatibility by being saved in the .rtf file format. For some purposes, these formats, as well as the .txt (text file) format can offer good accessibility in delivery of lecture and tutorial notes and examples, etc. though may not be suitable for all purposes.
When creating these documents you should consider:
- The design and layout of the document ie. the structure of your content.
- The provision of text equivalents for non-text elements eg, images.
- The use of clear language and logical reading order.
