PDFs

The PDF format provides a standard that offers operating system and platform independence in presentation of documents. Acrobat Reader is a free PDF viewer available from the Adobe web-site. Adobe describe its product as: "a universal file format that preserves the exact look and feel of any source document, including all of the fonts, formatting, colors, and graphics, regardless of the application and platform used to create it."

PDF files are not usually readable by screen readers unless specific steps are taken to make the documents accessible.
