Academics
The Blackboard(TM) learning management system has been implemented to assist in the flexible provision of education and training at Swinburne. Blackboard version 6, implemented from Semester1 2003, meets the accessibility standards of Section 508 of the US Federal Rehabilitation Act .
Most Higher Education Division subjects now have an online presence in Blackboard. The communication and information technologies available in Blackboard allow for flexibility in access to online content and enhanced interactive and innovative opportunities.
With Blackboard, academics can provide students with resources such as Word, Excel and PDF documents; PowerPoint presentations; graphics and images; and recorded lectures; video on demand; and simulations and animations.
Accessibility for all students ensures consistent, reliable educational service delivery. We should not assume that only blind or vision-impaired students need course materials in an accessible form.
