Jane Ward, Acting Vice-President (Engagement)

Jane Ward was appointed Vice-President (Engagement) in 2017.

Jane was previously the Director of Collaboration and Partnerships at Swinburne, leading a team which fosters and manages key external relationships on behalf of the university. This includes multi-faceted relationships with large corporations, SMEs, community and industry bodies, and other education providers.

Jane joined Swinburne in 2011, initially in the role of Government Relations Manager. Prior to this, she was a Director in Deloitte’s Government Liaison practice, providing advice to organisations to assist them to interact more strategically and effectively with government.  Jane also has several years experience working in economic development and investment attraction roles with the Victorian Government, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Having begun her professional career as a management trainee with Japanese multinational, Mitsui & Co, Jane has a strong background in international business and trade.

In recent years, her interests and experience have expanded to include industry policy, industry informed research projects, and the opportunities that can be unlocked by better collaboration between universities, government and industry.
