Professor Duncan Bentley
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)
Professor Duncan Bentley was appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) in November 2016. In this role, he has responsibility for the planning, quality and delivery of the University's undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs.
Previously in 2016, Professor Bentley held the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor (International). In that role, he had oversight of the international portfolio and the global engagement strategy of the University. This included establishing deep engagement with international partners, growing a vibrant and diverse international student body both in Melbourne and around the globe, and harnessing the substantial capability of Swinburne staff to enhance the University's global economic and social impact.
Professor Bentley has held senior executive positions in public, private and dual sector universities across Australia for nearly twenty years. He is one of the leading international scholars in taxpayers' rights, a Fellow of the Academy of Law and an Honorary Fellow of the South African Institute of Tax Practitioners. Professor Bentley plays an active role in professional and community bodies and has served as a director of several not-for-profit and start-up companies.
